Technologically adept, Engineers apply their knowledge
of theoretical science and practical engineering to build
Drones, Bots, and Weapons. Whether focusing on controlling
numerous smaller devices or building up a single, highly
advanced combat machine, they provide fantastic firepower
against the Demons
Inhibitor Bots
Slow down enemies and crash into them on command.
| Icon | Name | Description | Level | Prerequisites |
|
|
Inhibitor Bots | Constructs 3 bots to identify and slow enemies. | ? | ? |
|
|
Concussive Crash |
Commands inhibitor bots to crash into enemies; inflicts physical damage AoE and stun. |
? | ? |
You start with one level of inhibitor bots, so every engineer has them. For a level 1 skill, they are very useful. Slowing enemy movement and attack speed improves the engineer's survivability. This effectively reduces enemy DPS while making it easier to destroy them before they destroy you. However, they can only slow 3 enemies at a time.
In a pinch, Concussive Crash can be used to sacrifice the bots and damage/stun enemies near the engineer. The short stun duration opens several possibilities. The engineer can keep firing to thin enemy forces, call down strikes, reconstruct bots or the drone, and/or move to a better position.
Haste Bot
What if our seconds were longer?
| Icon | Name | Description | Level | Prerequisites |
|
|
Haste Bot | Constructs 1 bot to boost player speed and skill rate of use. | ? | ? |
This is the one engineer skill marksman would kill to possess.
Basically, it speeds up the Engineer's actions. Skill cooldowns decrease while movement speed and rate of fire increase. Since the engineer's skill tree has so many cooldowns, the haste bot can benefit many builds. When developing a build, consider shaving some skill points from skills that only reduce their cooldowns, and place some into Haste Bot instead.
Haste bot can be used with inhibitor bots; the combination slows the enemy while speeding up the engineer. Combine these two bot types with basic Hunter skills such as Tactical Stance (or Rapid Fire) and Beacon for burst damage against troublesome foes.
(TODO: test if haste bot effects rocket/bomber bots' attacks)
Nanobots
I can't see them working!
| Icon | Name | Description | Level | Prerequisites |
|
|
Nanobots | Constructs a cloud of nanobots to infect an enemy for greater damage. | ? | ? |
Nanobots are best applied to strong or annoying enemies. They infect the target, causing no damage on their own. However, every time an attack succeeds against the target, the nanobots add bonus electric damage. Use with high rate of fire weapons/skills for maximum effect.
Avoid nanobots if you prefer slow, hard-hitting attacks.
Rocket Bot
Hovers around the player, firing a barrage of rockets periodically.
| Icon | Name | Description | Level | Prerequisites |
|
|
Rocket Bot |
Constructs 1 bot to fire rockets at the enemy; number of skill levels = number of rockets fired simultaneously. |
? | ? |
|
|
MolotovAssault |
Commands rocket bot to crash into enemies; inflicts fire damage AoE and ignite. |
? | ? |
A simple yet effective bot that provides DPS.
The number of rockets fired with each barrage is equal to the skill level. So a level 7 rocket bot will fire 7 rockets each time.
Molotov Assault provides a decent fire AoE with a chance to ignite, both additional sources of DPS. Bots and their crash skills have relatively low cooldowns, which means they can be used frequently. And who doesn't want an unkillable, auto-firing rocket launcher?
Bomber Bot
Hovers around the player, dropping spectral bombs periodically.
| Icon | Name | Description | Level | Prerequisites |
|
|
Bomber Bot |
Constructs 1 bot to drop bombs on the enemy; the bombs do spectral AoE and inflict phase status. |
? | ? |
(TODO: someone tested DPS?)
Like other phasing pets, bomber bot suffers from a lack of shield penetration. Enemies with phase status take more damage from attacks and dish out less damage. In theory, bomber bot should provide a nice boost to any engineer build, but the number of skill points required and the lack of shield penetration make the bot less appealing.
(TODO: confirm this remains true.) Rockets and electric attacks have inherent shield overload. Consider using bomber and rocket bots together, and equip rocket launchers (or other shield overloading weapons) on the engineer and/or drone. This allows pets' status ailments to apply much more consistently.
